Hey guys,
I'm looking to upgrade my video card currently i have a 128mb RADEON 9250 and my mother board is an Acer E661GXM and i was wondering how to find out what other video cards it can support or if i want to go better will i have to upgrade my motherboard which will probably mean upgrading my cpu and ram,
Thanks,

Need to try and find the specs to the mobo.
There's also a good chance that your power supply might not support to much better of a video card.

if they still had THIS CARD in stock, it would also be a great choice, close in comparison to a stock 8600GT when measuring the ATI cards stock speeds, but add in the fact that the Core is clocked 50MHz faster & the Memory at 900MHz over stock... easily should put it into the 8600GTS's range or dang close. yes its a bigger card with the cooler, but for less than $100 & damn near just a few bucks away from $60 after rebate, its a hell of a deal... assuming it was in stock still.
in any case though, any of these choices would still be an insanely Massive, revolutionary jump in performance from what your running now.
one other thing to factor in for the new build, is an OS, will you be using your old OS or need to buy a new one? |

os? :P opperating system, then yes i will probably still be running the same one but the thing is i don't really want to upgrade my motherboard as it is a lot of money and work i would much rather just buy a nicer video card, some ram and maybe some cpu but yeh i have no idea what my motherboard can support.
Edit: Because i was told that if your motherboard can't support the video card your computer will just not work or you can actually fry the video card.

It really has nothing to do with your motherboard "supporting" the video card...
Your either looking at either an AGP or PCI-E card
What you need to worry about is whether the PSU can handle the new components
Use Everest to determine what your specs and upgrade path will be |
