| New ATI card, 4850 will dominate it's class.
Hey guys,
some of you might already have read the reviews, but that 4850 seems to be a kick ass card, especially when you think about the fact that it is a sub 200 bucks card and in crossfire it beats the 9800GX2 more then once.
And to think drivers probably ain't even optimized for it yet.
If this is any indication about the 4870, then I know what my next card is gonna be.
the only downside they could find for now is that the card tends to get a bit hot, but after some research it turns out that that was because the fan was running @ 20% of it's speed.
As it looks now, I will be replacing my 1950XT with the 4850, it is definetely worth the money.

beats the 9800GX2 more than once O.o finally something nice from ATI. thats cool.
edit: just wow i saw the reviews and the new ATI cards perform ON PAR or sometimes EVEN BETTER then the 9800GTX for $199 compared to 600+ for the 9800GTX. Just wow. Go AMD . Im so gonna get me one of these things as soon as i can
edit again: actually the new ATI card has the nerve to completely DESTROY the 9800GTX in some games and bence marks. Thats so awesome. NVIDIA probally got the shock of their lives

Just makes me think about how nvidia just released their new 200 series. Their new stuff seems grossly overpriced, at least amd can do something right. We'll have to wait and see if they can catch-up in the cpu game though.

I'm definitely going for the 4850, or, if I want to spend a bit more, the 4870 with GDDR5.
I'll probably get the 4850, but the 4870 would be a nice bragging card..."check out my 1GB of 4GHz memory."
I think it's great that AMD can offer such a high-end card for only 200$. That thing's going to obsolete the 8800 GTS 512 and 9800 GTX. |

Well, the 9800gtx was kind of junk to begin with, at least for the price, I think we will probably the prices for it fall to the 8800gts range, and the gts fall to the level of the gt. Trouble is that the 8800's do perform pretty well, and I think the comparison of those versus the new amd well show in prices and do a lot to create a robust selection of midrange cards. |

That is a good price for a gtx, though I imagine the gx2 was the card being refereed to, or else the 280gtx. |
