They're planning the GTX+, which is just a overclocked version of the GTX, that's gonna be $229.
Other then that, all you have to hope for is the prices falling on the 260/280's. |

I don't think the single slot cooler is much of an advantage at all. The 4850 idles in the 70's and full load in the low 90's in one review I read.

yeh my brother's ATI HD 2600 pro gets soo hot it stops responding all of a sudden when playing really intense games for a long period of time....and thats with another fan next to it.....not much i can do.....but oh well...(it probaly has a shut down temperature built into it or something)
i prefer dual slot cards, all the heat is being extracted away from the card, also the fans are larger on dual slot cards which is also a bonus.

But the 4850 ATM, is definetly the card of choice. |

I guess it depends on which review you look at then. Quote: | Looking at total system power consumption levels, the GeForce 9800 GTX+ and Radeon HD 4850 use roughly the same amount power at load. At idle the Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 was a little more energy friendly as it should be. And, it gets beat (or nearly beat) by the 4850, while at the same time the 4850 is $30+ cheaper.
In other words, the 4850 is the card to beat at its price point, it almost beats the 260, which is a $400+ card. |
