If it is for your computer i wouldn't worry about top end graphics cards...
IMO the difference will be minimal, so i guess get the cheapest one if you must...
I may be off base but if you have the sort of cash those graphics cards cost, to spare, then sort out your computer with a decent upgrade. I won't mock anyone who has an old computer and can't afford a new one, but you seem to have the cash and ignore every part of the computer except for the graphics card.
Top of the range graphics cards and P4's even @ 4Ghz with 1gb RAM do not belong in the same sentence.

Indeed, the 4850 is the fastest of all the cards you've mentioned. Plus, it's only ~$180 after rebates. And that's brand new. It's currently the best bang for buck card. It's faster then the 9800GTX, and uses a lot less power too.
But I totally agree with JRB3, I wouldn't even think about a new graphics card until I did something about the CPU/RAM. You won't even get half the performance of what you should with any of the fore mentioned cards with your current setup.
I know you know that already, but I had to say it.
Good luck |

The 4850..
It's simply better then anything Nvidia has...
But if I had to choose a Nvidia card, it'd be the the 9800GTX.. |

The Saphire 4850 is a single slot card! If I had to choose a card out of the two it would be the 9800 GTX, but I would wait for a better card to come out from Nvidia to beat the 4850's price and performance. I wouldn't settle for second best (the 9800 GTX in your case).
This reminds me of when the 3870X2 came out, it was the best card out, but than came along the 9800GX2. I'm glad I waited a while back than, and wow it was a short wait. |

I have no problem with single slot coolers. If it's that big of deal, you can spend an extra $30 on a aftermarket cooler. And still get the performance gain of the better card.
I have a 9600GT with a single slot cooler, and it never has reached over 45° during hours of gameplay or now with folding even.
It all depends on the card I guess. |

Ah its not a big deal at all, I love single slot cards. I was trying to point out that the 4850's single slot was a plus compared to a 9800 GTX which is a dual slot card. Between all three the 4850 is my choice simply becuase of price, performance and it is a single slot card. I would still wait though, Nvidia might have a tendency to jump back with something which will be more awesome. |
