System specs
Os:Winxp HE spk3
MB:Biostar P4m900-m4
RAM:AMPO 2gigs
PSU:Antec Basiq 500watt BP500U
CPU:Intel P4 3.0E 478
GRFX: XFX Geforce 8500gt 1gig 128bit
This is my current problem. I put it all together everything is coming on and working. I went to install the video card it installed. The video came up really slow so i looked at it threw windows hardware manager and it says;
Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device, contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or BIOS update. (Code 35)
I tried to flash the bios with p490m828.bs to update it came up looked the exact same did the same thing. I don't know if there is a bios newer then this somewhere since this ones date is 2007-09-05.
If anyone know how to get this card to work please respond. If it wont work could some one tell me a good video card that will work. Thank you. |

Drivers sound like a likely issue.

Did you ever install the latest video drivers from nvidia?
The video card is compatible. Thats not the problem.
The 8400GS is a low end card, worse than the 8500GT. |

Yeah got the drivers installed them then restarted. I was given the blue screen of death. It went to fast to see the error loaded in safe mode but i think the problems lies with the video card since when i called xfx they said they were not making that model of the 1 gigs anymore. So i am going to return it to them. I just decided to go with the 8400 because it is lower end and usually the older the card the more adjustable it has with multiple mb's. |

What drivers did you try to install? (Version #)
Also, what is the make/model of your Power Supply?
And what did the BSOD say? It normally gives you a code or something. What did it say?

It almost sounds like a driver conflict.
An lower end videocard does nothing for compatibility with a motherboard. |
