The way I see it, for 4x AGP low profile your options are GeForce FX 5200 or ATI Radeon X1050 |

Look around, you might be able to find Jetway's 4x/8x AGP Radeon 9600 for cheap, last year Newegg was selling them for like $40, ran a Mobile Radeon 9600 Chip, 128-bit memory bus, & if I remember right 128MB of memory, all in a Low profile form factor (card & bracket both were Low Profile, the one I saw was anyways, on Jetways site it shows it with a full height bracket, but pretty sure can easily modify with a low profile bracket used on some other competitors cards, for example XFX sells a low profile kit for some of their cards, mounting the low profile bracket on the Jetway might work, since it only has a VGA & S-video out on it). Jetway - Tech.On The Move -VGA Card - 96MX-AT-128C
that one would be better than either of the other two mentioned above.
but depends on what you need it for, general usage, some light gaming, etc?

Well, I was just looking at 4x cards. Suppose I should have looked at 8x ones too... I failed to think about backward compatibility. |

yeah, many 8x ones especially lower end low profiles shouldn't have much trouble being used in 4x AGP slots either... with that said, maybe a Radeon X700 or X1300 or similar may be an option, since their based on the same core or series that the 9600 originated from anyways, just different specs & clock speeds. |

ooh some possibilities I haven't read before. Although that brings up a problem w/ comparing, b/c i'm not so good at it. But I'll look more into them.
I have been considering a geforce 6200, how does that compare?
It'd mostly be used for light gaming on a secondary computer I'll be using while I'm at school. So pretty much for down time between doing school work. But I'd still like to know what newer games these cards could do and how well. |
