also to keep in mind, combining 12V rails doesn't always equal what it seems, usually a bit less for overall total than what you add & come up with...
for example, my OCZ GameXstream 700W is a 700W rated PSU, but it has 4x +12V Rails, each with 18 Amps, doing the math, (18Ax4) x 12V = 864W  (no way my PSU is that high)
but that formula or whatever, Voltage x Amperage = Wattage, I remember recently reading that really only applies or applied to DC power, AC uses some sort of other formula or equation...

I cant seem to remember exactly from my electronics class 10 years ago. A quick google search probably answer that. |
