Video Card Issue

Hello, I am the user of an NVidia 8500GT.
Here's my issue:

I was playing Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway. The game ran smoothly. Nearing the end of the game, it froze, so I restarted my computer. When I restarted, my widescreen was projecting the lowest possible resolution as well as 4 bit colours. I can not change this resolution, I'll adjust the resolution but nothing happens. I've opened the device manager and determined it was indeed my video card.

I have attempted to open the NVidia Desktop application, with no luck. I'll clickthe icon and nothing happens.

I've tried rolling back my driver (which only works in safe mode, after I update the driver which works fine until restart).

Please help me, this resolution is killing me.

Does anything change if you turn the pc off for 15 minutes and let it cool down?

Yes I have left the computer off for about 30 hours now, and still produces the same result. My computer was custom made at a Computer store, so the fan could be a problem. I`ve never had this problem in the past with any other game.
Just to confirm, it probably has nothing to do with the game, correct?

Reload your video drivers. Make sure you are not booting into Safe Mode.
