Hey all, I am having a problem with my NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS graphic card... There are streaks, dots, boxes, ect, running across my screen as I turn on the power for the computer. I tested both the monitor and the PC on 2 seperate PCs/monitors, and it seems to be a problem with my PC only, so I am led to believe it is my graphics card. For this reason, I want to buy a new one, and possibly better than the last one to keep it up-to-date. I am looking for high end gaming (World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, ect.) and HD if possible. Any suggestions? Anything else I should upgrade on a $150 budget?
It is the HP Pavilion Elite m9040n PC |

$150 for an 8800 GTS? That is a terrible price.
You will probably need to upgrade your power supply to upgrade your graphics card. You'll need to give us the specs of your power supply.

You will probably need to upgrade your power supply to upgrade your graphics card. You'll need to give us the specs of your power supply. | Granted its an "Older" card despite using the same G92 core as the 9800GTX, but considering those cards are running in the $150 range now too, the price isn't THAT bad...
even when factoring in performance, 9800GTX is only smidge better... Compare NVIDIA Geforce 9800 GTX , NVIDIA Geforce 8800 GTS
for all intents & purposes their the same card...
so if its a terrible price for the 8800GTS 512MB, same goes for the 9800GTX 512MB cards being sold in the $150 range as well. |

woohoo someone came to my defense! But yes either way you have to upgrade your PS fist. I doubt seriously that a 300w even has the 6 pin connector you'll need |
