Both these cards are pretty close. Both can be found cheaper. You can buy 2 8800GTS for $200 that will dominate 1 single 4850. Take a look for your self Tom's Hardware - Benchmark Mass Effect

I agree with 2.
A single card, the 4850 will win, especially with AA on.
BUT, for the price, you can likely find 2x 8800gts that'll wipe the floor with the 4850. And for that matter, you can pick up a single 9800GTX for cheap, and that comes extremely close to the 4850. And the 9800GTX+ is about even, but with AA on, it falls behind.. |

Keep in mind there's very little difference between that 512MB 8800GTS & a 9800GTX, seeing as the latter is just a revamped, slightly tweaked version of the former, with an extra SLI connector. |

You know, I hear a lot of people say that. And I agree, they are similar.
But I've never seen a 8800gts be even close to any of the benchmark score I've put up. (in a similarly configured system)
The 9800's are great OC's too. I've actually had this conversation once already tonight.
2, back me here. |

as Console mentions they can usually easily be attained on a stock one, as the factory ones have, though sometimes from what I hear the factory OC ones, GPU's, are "handpicked" ones that can guarantee higher OC's...
anyways, not sure if the 8800GTS OC in the list is an alpha dog, but its still an OC'd model & even with that said the Alpha dog isn't that much clocked faster over stock..
er, should I say, ISN'T even clocked faster than stock, it is stock speed, so the whole comparison between the stock one & an alpha dog "version" at least this Alpha Dog model, well, its all a moot point. |
