I ran 2 monitors on one box and if I reboot the computer it is okay. If the computer is turned off, then neither monitor will come on. I spent hours trying to figure it out. Worked fine for a while and now this crap.
I finally unplug both monitors and turn the computer on. In a few seconds I plug in one monitor and it will get signal then. It has to be something in the HD26xx card (can't remember the number and it is at the other end of the house).
I don't recommend doing that (hot plugging in of a monitor) but that is the only way I am able to get the monitors to power up. I used to run a 9600 All In Wonder and after a year or so, it done the same thing. Makes me leery of Ati monitors. They go out of warranty and start doing that. Both AGP cards.
Now I try to never shut that computer clear down. I am running a single 28" monitor on it now but same thing. The card for some reason just quits furnishing power to the monitors. New power supply too, I thought that was the problem and put in a new 430w power supply. Maybe need to put in a 850w one. It had a 300w and I thought going to 430w would do the trick. The manufacturers put just enough power supply in a box that if you try to put any upgrade on the box it will overload the stock power supply.
Really frustrating to say the least. I have a different box with a Dell 30" monitor on it setting next to the box with the 28" monitor and that system never gives me any problems. But a guy can buy 3 HannsG 28" monitors for what I paid for one Dell 30". The HannsG only has 1920x1200 vs the Dells 2560x1600. The HannsG's are nice cheap monitors, I gave each of my employees one for Christmas to put on their computers at home and they really like them (quite a step up, from a 19x, one was even using a 17x!)
I talked to Ati and no ideas from them at the time I talked to them. I might try again one of these days. I would really like it to work the way it should work as a dual monitor card.
I just posted this so maybe someone else having the same problem doesn't think they are the first one.
