What is L2 Cache???

Hello everybody. I've been wondering if there is a difference between upgrading a L2 Cache 3MB to a L2 Cache 6MB? Will the speed be that of a surprise or is it even worth it at all?? And what does L2 Cache suppose to be???

L2 is Level 2 Cache, the primary cache on a CPU is L1 or Level 1, then there's L2, & on some CPU's even L3...
