i have been waiting on buying a card because prices are droppin fast. But this card (from what i heard) beats the gtx 260 which is running for like 300 sum dollars. I also heard, that ATI wont lower the price on them because they are so good. i can send a link if you want to see my sources, but class is ending right now. let me know what u think about sapphire.... im either getting that or the 9800gtx+ with the step up program. |

GTX260 216 core and 4870 1Gb are equal in performance.
(price drops just happened on the 260 also, so it's about the same price)
Forgot to answer the question. Yes, Saphire cards are good. Even their PSU's are good. (but overpriced)

i actually just had an EPIPHANY ! ok. so, the 4870s dropped prices and no new cards are really coming out to beat them in price and performance... but nvidia made the 260 to beat the 4870, if im right. not sure on that one. so 4870 came out to beat the 9800gtx+... so their has to be a new nvidia card coming out soon to beat the price and quality of a 4870. Im going to buy the 9800gtx+ with the step up program so i can just pay the difference of the new nvidia card coming out and trade in my 9800gtx+. would be the smarter way to go imho. Let me know some feedback on my EPIPHANY!

No No..your confused I think..
Nvidia released the 9800gtx (non +)
ATI then released the 4850, which beats the non + 9800gtx.
So nvidia dropped the 9800gtx+, to beat out the 4850
ATI also released the 4870 with the 4850, the 4870 beat out nvidia GTX260.
So nvidia then dropped the GTX260 216 core, which is on par with the 4870.
Now nvidia has already released the newer version of the 9800gtx+, called the GTX250. It's slightly faster then the 9800+, and a touch faster then the 4850.
SO if you got the 9800gtx+, you only step up option would be the GTX250, which is $130. The 9800gtx+ is still going for more then that though, so you'd be loosing money. |
