which graphic card is better????????
Hi,
i was looking to buy a new computer but i want the graphics card to be better than my current ATI READON 9550 128RAM.
Here are the options:
ATI Radeon HD2100 256 RAM
NVIDIA® GeForce 8200 256 RAM
nVidia GeForce 8400 256 RAM
nVidia GeForce 7050 256 RAM
examples of differences would be very helpful. i.e playable games
Thanks

Hi and welcome.

These cards are extremly low end and will proberly perform just as good as your current card. Only improvement is the support for new features (shader model etc).
This card is still low-end and is not for gaming (you could play a couple of games on it but it will perform poorly).
Is this a prebuilt computer you are buyng with these options? Do you have a budget? It might be better to build your own if you are willing/capable.Last edited by Aaron_8015; August 13th, 2009 at 11:37 AM.

thanks for your reply. which is the best card from the list, also what sort of games i am able to play.
i found these base units from the pc world website, these are under the refurbished base units.

not really looking to spend a huge amount, £300 is my max.
if the card is better than the one i have than thats fine, but will i be able to play extra games, i.e saints row, gears of war etc?
dont really want to build one either.

The third one is the best from that list, which has the 8400. The processor is good (use the same one myself). The card will limit your gaming ability, I dont think gears of war will run with that card. (I could barely run it on my 8800).
On the plus side you might be able to upgrade it later, just hope you get a good PSU or you would need to upgrade that also.I7 920 @ 4.2Ghz/6GB//GTX480 SLI/M4 64 GB + 1.5 TB + 2x 640 GB/Corsair TX950/ASUS blu-ray/ASUS P6X58D-E + X-Fi /LC PCK62

I checked all the links you gave. The one I highlighted is the best, in terms of graphics and CPU.
The over one, has the worst graphics in the group.
I was running Q6600, 4gb ram, 8800GTS 1440x900 at med settings. I was getting 17-32fps (my video memory was letting me down).I7 920 @ 4.2Ghz/6GB//GTX480 SLI/M4 64 GB + 1.5 TB + 2x 640 GB/Corsair TX950/ASUS blu-ray/ASUS P6X58D-E + X-Fi /LC PCK62

Minimum Requirements:
- Windows XP / Vista

- 1 GB Available System Memory
- 15 GB Available Hard Drive Space
- 128 MB 3D Video Card w/Shader Model 3.0 Support (Nvidia GeForce 7600 / ATI Radeon X1300)
- DirectX Compatible Display Capable of 640x480 16-bit Color Resolution
- DirectX 9.0c Compatible 16-bit Sound Card
- Broadband Connection for Internet Multiplayer
Recommended Requirements:
- Windows XP / Vista
- 3.2 GHz Dual-Core Processor (Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon X2)
- 2 GB Available System Memory
- 256 MB 3D Video Card with Shader Model 3.0 Support (Nvidia GeForce 8800 / ATI Radeon HD3850)
- DirectX Compatible Display Capable of 1024x768 in 32-bit Color
- DirectX 9.0c Compatible 16-bit Sound Card
- Recommended System Requirements Required for 2-12 Player Multiplayer or Co-Op

dont really want something that is not a well known brand, but thanks for the links, very useful websites.
Do you think that the ram for the chosen pc (Currys - Shop for Reconditioned PC Base Units - PACKARD BELL 3414 *REFURBISHED* QUAD CORE PC, 2GB MEMORY, 250GB HARD DRIVE) is suitable for vista, will it have a good speed to it?

The brand has nothing to do with it. Your essentially getting the same PC no matter who the manufacture is. They all use (for example) Intel CPU's, foxconn motherboards, etc..
the brand makes 0 difference.
The system Aaron linked you to last is the best your gonna get for the price. No matter what website your on. I know this cuz I just did the same search for a m8 yesterday, and that is the system I found.
Trust Aaron, he knows what he is talking about.

if that copy of vista is eligible for an upgrade to Windows 7 when it comes out, 2GB's will run even better on Win7 than on Vista.

do u think it will come with norton installed?
-
August 13th, 2009, 01:54 PM #19
You don't want norton anything by your computer. It is a resource hog. There are plenty of other FREE good anti virus programs out there.
AVG Free - Download AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition for Windows 7, Vista and XP
FREE antivirus software with spyware protection: avast! Home Edition
Those are the most popular.
