Sorry to sound stupid and what not but i cant get a grasp on all of this. Here is the link to my current motherboard ( GIGABYTE - Product - Motherboard - Specification - 8S661FXMP-RZ ) I dont understand the concept of DDR in relation to VGA cards or any other hardwares you can buy for your computer. Could someone please tell me whether the type of DDR your motherboard can handle covers all hardware aspects eg- VGA cards, RAM cards and HDD's or whether the motherboard handles different types of DDR for different kinds of hardware. Also can someone please tell me what type of DDR my PC works with.
Once again sorry for an annoying question and thanks heaps!! |

First off, Welcome to TechIMO.
The type of system RAM you use/need has nothing to do with the video card. The graphics card has it's own RAM, and that's why you see "DDR3" etc on the GPU specs.
As far as what kind of RAM you need, you need "DDR400" also known as "PC3 200"
Any of these should work for your board: Newegg.com - Desktop Memory,DDR 400
I should note that the specs show your motherboard only supports 2Gb's of RAM. So don't pick up anymore then that. |

I look at the specs of my motherboard but dont understand what i need to look for to know what types of those hardwares will be accepted.

Its really cut and dried, if you click the link Taxman gave it will give you suggestions for ram. But even at that its pretty simple to understand
Memory - Type: DDR 400/DDR 333/DDR 266
- Max capacity: 2GB
That means just about any two 1gig sticks of 184pin DDR memory will work. But you can't exceed 2gbs or no more than 1gb per slot.
Video card, you only have an AGP slot therefore you are limited to an AGP card. Almost any AGP card on the market will work. You've got a fairly low end system so I would so I wouldn't spend a ton on a card.
Hard drive, depending on what slots are open you have your choice of either a serial ata (SATA) or IDE (ATA) drive. It looks like you have first gen SATA ports so they are meant for older drives, but the new ones should still work. You may have to change the jumpers to force them to run at the slower speeds but the interface is the same.
