Recently I started getting graphical artifacting when running newer games, so I decided to update my drivers for my radeon x1900 (previously i used Radeon Omega 48442 driver).
So I downloaded the 9.8 legacy catalyst driver and installation went without problems. When I ran a game the graphical artifacting seemed to be gone, but after about 5 minutes of play the game would freeze and the screen goes black. This usually means I have to restart the pc, but sometimes I manage to close the game and return to the desktop. When I do this I see a pop-up from ATI telling me that the graphical accelerators failed to respond or something like that and asks me to send an error report (I have the crash log file from that error report if it would help solve this problem).
This happens with every game I´ve tried to run so far, but the worst thing is that it also happens when I install any of the older catalyst drivers. The only driver I can use withouth games crashing is the Radeon omega 48442 but it's ancient and causes graphical artifacting among other issues.
my specs are:
windows xp professional
Asus P5B
Intel Core 2cpu 6400 2,13ghz
2gb ram
Radeon x1900 512mb
