battlefield 1942 PLEASE HELP!!

Ok...i installed the game and it played well...until i played a multiplayer game.When i played a multiplayer game the game stopped...and went back to my desktop.....one it did that i tried to start another game but it wouldn't start.....the main menu pops up but after i hit multiplayer or start game it'll just act as if its starting but never actually start...can someone please help me with this issue?

Do you have the latest updates for the game installed?

I've installed the game before and it worked fine till i play 2multiplayer games then it just stopped working....when i put the disc in it reconizes the disc.....just when i hit start or play it will act as if it was starting but....never start.
