| Possible New GPU'S ?
Hey There
I recentley just finished my first computer build which is made up of the following:
Asus P5Q Deluxe Mobo
Intel Core 2 quad Q9550
ATI Radeon X850XT
OCZ Gold 4GB RAM
OCZ Stealth Xstream PSU 600W
Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit
All in all I am very chuffed with my build (especially considering its my first) but if anything the one thing letting it down is the graphics card. It is outdated these days since there is no support for shader model 3.0 and it only has shader model 2.0.
Anyways, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good graphics card with support for shader model 3.0 that they know is a good performer. I would be looking at playing most games maxed out with 16xAA and resolutions of 1280x1024. So all suggestions are welcome
Thanks |

I just purchased 2 new nVidia GeForce GF8500GT PCi-e to replace my Radeon 4890. I bought them because they were a decent price ( new ) on bay and though my Gigibyte mobo isn't SLI capable I though two GPU would be faster than one if I bought the same thing.
Anyone know much about the performance of these cards?
Oh yeah, these are 1 GB.

their CRAP, budget cards, you'd need about 10 of them or more to achieve the 4890's performance LOL, sorry about being so blunt, but its true. not even worth SLI-ing them, if you need something better than onboard or something to run multiple monitors for cheap then their fine, but for any gaming, even Folding, their weak, weak, weak, weak... you get the point.
how much did you pay for them?

Yes, the 8500GT's you bought are crap.
The higher memory versions of those low end cards are typically slower than the normal versions.
Please start your own thread for your own questions. |
