ATI Radeon 4550 Crash Issues, Need Help!
About a month ago I got a new motherboard and cpu. Along with said hardware I also got a ATI Radeon HD 4550 Graphics Card. For the first maybe 2 weeks things seemed fine. Then it just got worse from there. I suddenly started to get a BSOD saying ati2dvag.dll hs run into an infinite loop. It says it could be a error with my display driver or the device running it.
When this happens I will have to reboot windows. This is where a multitude of issues begin. What happens is it will make it to the desktop and then after a few minutes the desktop will freeze causing me to have to reboot again. Also sometimes after it happens and i make to the desktop, after a few moments it can be any where from 10 to 15 minutes and the monitor will just click off and not come back up. Again causing me to have to restart.
Now sometimes when this happens and I restart, for some reason the computer will start up fine but the monitor will not display, the monitor light will just blink. Sometimes what I notice is, after I have the pc off for a while or shut off the PSU for a while, the system will start up fine, monitor and all.
Also the last time this happened and I had the pc off for maybe 30 minutes to and hr, it all started up fine and it worked fine for about a week. That is until just recently it happened again. Again after having the pc off for a while it all started up fine and hasnt crashed since it happened which was at around 2:00 A.M. this morning.
One time I was using windows media player and this issue happened. The last time it happened I was on a virtual world program play called Second Life.
The graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 4550. The minimum requirements are said to be 1 gb of ram and a PSU that has "atleast" 400 watts. My PSU is exactly that, just 400 watts and I only have 1 gb of ram at the moment on my PC. The graphics card drivers are all up to date. So I am not sure why this is happening. Several have told me it may be that I need a stronger PSU but I just really want to be sure that is it.
Please help, and thank you.
