    AMD/ATI Re-branding 5750/6750 & 5770/6770

Spotted this over on another site, it won't be an issue for most of us ITK but I know it will be a question asked a more than a few times.

ATI is re-branding their Radeon HD 5700 series to HD 6700 series. So the Radeon HD 5770 is now the HD 6770 and HD 5750 is now the HD 6750. AFAIK nothing has changed, the specs are going to be exactly the same. There isn't even a die shrink (unlike the old NVIDIA days). Should also note the new SKUs are listed as OEM only (for now)

Link for the two cards AMD Radeonâ„¢ HD 6750 Graphics (For OEM Only)

AMD Radeonâ„¢ HD 6770 Graphics (For OEM Only)

Its kinda old news but thought I would share just in case no one caught it

I saw the information about AMD getting rid of the "ATI" brand, but not the redesignation of the video cards. How clever that they would bump the number series up.

Thats just pathetic for AMD to follow suit with Nvidia... and here it was, the 6850/6870 was being touted by every review site, and supposedly according to AMD, to replace the 5750/5770 models.

for them to simply rename the cards, well if the new replacements for say, 5500/5600 were to be similarly spec'd the 5700's, then I would imagine the names would be similar.

Wait, just realized, this is OEM, not retail cards, just like some of Nvidia's OEM cards for G/GT series cards, but given different nomenclature's .

Oh well, at least we'll know now, if someone comes along with a newer system from Dell or HP or whatever and had a 6750 or 6770.

Their NOT Replacements for the 5700's, but ARE, 5700's, and the 6800's are still the replacements for them.

Yeah that was kinda my thinking. Who knows if they plan on shipping these to retail or not but its nice to have the info out there for anyone that buys a white box machine and comes in to ask.
