Intel HD Graphics - HDMI Monitor not detected/working
I recently purchased a new monitor to use as my laptop screen. The display works through the HDMI port when the Intel HD Graphics are uninstalled, but only at 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x720.
However when the Intel HD Graphics drivers for my i5-430M (Running on Windows 7) are installed the monitor cuts off after the 'Windows is Starting screen' and only the internal laptop monitor is detected.
The Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel only gives options for Single Display and under Monitor/TV Settings it says Monitor/TV Settings are not supported. Any idea on how I can get both the eternal display and Intel HD Graphics working?

Hi Whistlingmilk,
Welcome to TechIMO.
What is the model of your laptop? You said you can display through HDMI when the integrated graphics adapter is uninstalled? That makes no sense.

Hi thanks for replying,
When Windows is first installed it doesnt install any display adapter graphics for the i5 processor, in the Device Manager, under Display Adapter it just says Generic Adapter or something along those lines. This displays through the HDMI but only at those generic resolutions and the graphics are all choppy. As soon as I install the Intel HD drivers the signal isn't sent through the HDMI, but the graphics work perfectly with the in-built laptop monitor.

Do you see anything in graphics properties that allows you to change the primary display or add an external display?

It was the cable
Found this posted from another user. I changed my cable and voila it was fixed. I wish I had the last 4 hours of my life back....
It might be the case that the cable doesn't have the DDC pin connected (it will work with a bluray player but not a computer), or that you need to use a different HDMI port on the TV for it to send proper EDID to the computer

I wonder how big of a distraction that shirt was before the teacher made it a big deal? Probably not a big one. Im assuming rifles/guns are pretty common in parts of WV.
Talking back to a LEO isn't smart.
