    Video card question

     
    I am currently running a dell dimension 4600.
    I have 2 monitors running off of a Nvidia Geforce 6800 GS/XT which is AGP. And was wondering if i could add another card running it threw pci??? Just am trying to get another monitor

    short answer, yes. It would be best to use another nvidia based card just because of the drivers but you could use a second card from any manufacture.

    Good luck on finding a PCI graphics card...

    They are still out there. Newegg carries a few options like the 8400gs and Radeon 9250. It looks like there is even a few newer options like the Radeon 5450 and nvidia GT 520 pci edition. For just running a third or 4th monitor w/o gaming any of the basic cards will be fine.

    Ok got the card. I decided to go with the ... Newegg.com - SPARKLE SFPC84GS256U2LP GeForce 8400 GS 256MB 32-bit DDR3 PCI HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card

    Just waiting on my other monitor now.

    Ok just am trying to figure out on how to install the drivers. Every time i try to install it, it will just recognize my old card

    Try a change in the bios to recognise PCI first, instead of AGP first. That may help you.

    You might want to use a driver cleaner and totally remove the old drivers first. Then when you re-install it should detect both cards.

    It installed and didnt work... error code 10
    Then uninstalled and reinstalled it still didnt work and made everything slow.

    put to auto detect on bio's ... all screens where black untill windows started.


    Any ideas?
