    GPU and Temperature Problem...help!

Hey everyone, I just wanted to know if my GPU temp and my fan temps were too high... I have a studio XPS 8000. Its processor is a Intel Core i7 CPU, 2.8 GHz, 9gb ram, windows 7 64 bit, and a NVIDIA Geforce 220 graphics card. I also have a 54mbps internet. Basically, I am trying to find out if my graphics card is overheating or not.

I tried to post in a different tech forum for help, and here is what they came up with (not resolvled, need lots of help):

    GPU and Fan Speed problem - Graphics-Cards - Graphic-Displays

Here is some temp. stats provided by GPU-Z and SpeedFan:

At the time, I am running chrome and another (and rather low-demanding) video game. But here is where my question comes in: I game alot on the PC, and for some reason I am lagging heavily when my computer should be more than fit to handle these games.

I asked around and people told me that my specs were up to par and my internet was more than sufficient. So, they diagnosed the problem to my fans (apparently dell is notorious for putting poor fans or something, im not sure).

I have tried every other solution, including checking for other background programs, cleaned out my fans and computer of dust, and more; this is really the only shady aspect I haven't completely checked over yet.

So, my question is, is this GPU temp too high, is it due to my fans (do i need to replace, upgrade, etc.), are any of the temps abnormal, and if it the temperature is normal, what could be the problem? I will be more than glad to provide extra info. Or, is this problem due to my graphics card?

Not sure how much more help you could ask for than what the fine folks at Tom's gave you. As they've already said the temps are fairly high, especially if those are at idle temps.

Your lagging is likely a result of a very underpowered GPU. I'm not sure who told you your specs are up to par, that would really rely on what games we are talking about here, but that card is a very low end card by any standard.

Thanks, but I haven't been told a solution yet (but I have been guided very nicely). What do i need to do exactly? Replace my graphics card? replace my fan?

Well dang man you just posted your question over there ya gotta give people time to respond

I'm not sure what kind of games you are looking to play but if its anything newer I'd be looking at a better GPU and most likely a better power supply. If you replace those and are still having heating issues then you might need to look at some better cooling solutions like more/better case fans ect.

ahaha sorry, its just that for some personal reasons I'm pressed for time to get this working. And sorry for all the reptitiveness, just don't want to spend money on things I don't need for my computer T___T. Just putting these things in is going to be like translating a foreign dictionary -_____-

Well you certainly "don't need" to buy a gaming card but it should help alleviate some of the lagging you are experiencing in newer more intensive games and give you a better overall gaming experience.

Your temps all the way around look rather high to me. If you open the case and leave the side off do they drop any at all? If they do, and you see a considerable drop then you might want to look at adding an extra fan or two before buying a new card.
