    7970 vs GTX 670

    Hi Guys,

I have an interested buyer for my 7970 for $430, and I can buy a GTX 670 for $460 from a place near by. Do you guys think I should Upgrade. I know that a GTX 670 is a faster card, But I do OC my 7970 to 1125/6300 and am not sure if this is a better deal. Im still yet to do Crossfire or SLI, with a 670 I know im down for better power consumption but for raw performance Im just not sure if i should do this Upgrade.

All the reviews I can see a 670 Beat a 7970, but the older reviews where they have an OC 7970 and a 680 they are pretty much on par. Considering im not overlocking the Voltages and running a standard 1125Mhz overclock, would it be worth a 670?

Personally, they are both so neck and neck I wouldn't bother taking a $30 loss on it. Depends on what you want to do down the line.

If you see yourself adding a second one of either, than go with the 670, SLI has proven to be a bit more reliable / shown better numbers than crossfire.

If it were me I would. The 670 spec wise is nothing more than a slightly reduced spec 680, I suspect, along with the shortage of them now as well (Newegg only had 2 models in stock last night when I checked, so now they are completely out of GTX 680 and 690, and damn close if not already out of GTX 670's), but I suspect the 670's are 680's that didn't make the cut on the manufacturing line.

You can see right on down the lines, the specs of the cards are so close, that I suspect an OC'd 670 would easily match a stock 680, or best an OC'd 7970 with ease.

2 of them in SLI would be worth it as well, but considering the price, and shortage of them on hand, you might be waiting awhile for a 2nd one.

Though the biggest advantage of the 670 is being close in performance to the 7970, its VASTLY cooler running and more power saving: Video Card Comparison - GPUReview.com

170W vs 250W on the 7970... thats a huge chunk of power saving and yet maintaining close to same performance levels.
