Nvidia GTX 570 crashes when playing video games
Whenever I try to start up DOTA, SC2, D3 etc my PC automatically black screens and crashes/freezes 10-15 seconds after having a game up. Usually I can't even get past the log-in screen.
With starcraft it freezes on the log in screen after about 10 seconds. With Diablo 3 it lasts a little longer. I was able to play for about 5 minutes before having it crash last time.
Here are my specs:
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570
Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
Memory: 3584MB RAM
System Model: TA790GX A3+
PSU: Thermaltake TR2 800W
Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit (6.1, build 7601)
I'm running the latest GTX 570 driver (version 301.42).
I have no idea what to do. I previously had an ATI graphics card on my pc before I switched over to Nvidia. When uninstalling my ATI software I booted into safe mode and ran driversweep and removed off ALL ATI affiliated things just to make sure my Nvidia card would run smoothly... apparently that wasn't the case.

DirectX updated to latest? Games Patched? from the sound of it, usually the cause your experiencing is usually a Software related problem.
Maybe uninstall (driver sweeper) all Nvidia stuff again, and use the last most recent version of drivers, maybe their more stable, worth a try.
PSU shouldn't be a problem, has enough juice to run the 570.
what was the Radeon card before?
Wondering if it could also be related to the Audio settings, since both cards can process audio on the card now, and feed to HDMI if connected, though with Radeons, they can process on the card, and feed back into system out onboard motherboard connectors if needed.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

Ceps I've had this same issue with my GTX 570 off an on.
Try re-seating the card or using a different slot and rolling back drivers to a prior/stable version.
Also, are you overclocking anything and how many peripherals (optical drives/HDDs/major fans) are you running? When did you start experiencing this and how long have you had the PSU?I7 930i on ASUS Sabertooth X58

I tried re-seating the card from the Slave slot to the Master slot thinking that was the problem, but it still crashes. I'm running 4 fans including my GPU and CPU cooling fan. I've had the PSU for about 5 months now, and I've been experiencing this problem ever since I installed this new GPU. I was running an ATI Radeon 5750 before flawlessly without a single crash, ever.

Might just be a funky card. I returned my 570GTX once already. Are you in warranty?

Not anymore, unfortunately...
I installed a fresh x64 bit windows 7 last night and installed the v301 drivers again. nothing has crashed yet. I'll install Starcraft 2 as soon as I get home and I'll try it out. I'm hoping it was a registry/driver issue with my last build, because I DID have an ATI card previously installed on it.

Installed Starcraft last night and it ran for about 15 seconds before my PC crashed... the rebuild in 64 bit did nothing.
I guess I've narrowed it down to either the motherboard or the card itself. Do you know what the most secure driver version would be? I think it's best not to be testing with the latest version.
I might just swap out my mobo for a temp then test it again with a more secure driver to determine if it really is the card. I can't RMA/return it as it's been over 30 days since initial purchase.Last edited by CepsBrahh; June 15th, 2012 at 09:09 AM.

As far as the most stable drivere right now, I'd say the 296's. Some people have been reporting issues with the 301's. I've seen some issues myself with them

I'd call them on that.... sometimes they have over a year thing. Who makes it? If it's EVGA they will almost certainly exchange it. I've never had an issue with EVGA customer support, it's usually the reason I buy their cards. One time I didn't register the card within 30 days and the guy just said, "Ah whatever, you're registered now, let's RMA it." Can't speak to other brands, haven't gone outside of EVGA in about 5-6 years.

I found out what the issue is... it's a blown capacitor. One of them blew for some reason, it's sitting on the MOBO slightly bent and the surface of it's black. All symptoms of a busted cap align with the problems I've been having.
Now regarding blown capacitors... how does one go about replacing them?
Are there specific caps for specific motherboards? Should I try fixing it myself or should I take it into a repair shop? I have a solder at home, so lack of tools isn't an issue.
