    Radeon HD 6850 display issues

    Uploaded with ImageShack.us

What causes that to happen? How do i fix it?
I have a single msi radeon hd 6850, not overclocked or anything. this card isn't that old, so i hope it isn't broken. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to TechIMO!

This could be related to several issues. Did the tearing start after a driver update? Is the card running hot?
You can wipe then re-install drivers for the card to determine if its software related.
If it's an overheating issue, pop the sidepanel off the PC chassis and point a deskfan into the case and see if there is a difference. Also, check the fan(s) on the GPU to make sure they spin and utilize a temp probe to note the cards temperature. There should be a temp probe built into your card's driver UI.

Is this problem only occuring with WoW, or all games?
    Good job, friend-of-friends!

V-sync enabled or is that off? Having it off in some games can create tearing as well.

    V sync is on
this card is less than a month old so i haven't updated the driver ever since i installed it
it seems to run at about 50 - 60 degrees Celsius. I have 6 fans installed on this case
this problem has been slowly getting worse. is it just going bad all ready?

temps sound fine, assuming those are at load when games are running.

did you install the drivers from CD included with Card, or download the latest from the AMD Website?

whats the rest of your system specs? CPU, RAM, Mobo, PSU, etc.

hows your temps for CPU, System, etc?

hard to say what is causing it, whenever I've had similar problems in other games, it was usually the video card over heating, but 50-60C is actually pretty cool running.

the Corsair Vengeance RAM, is it 1600MHz rated stuff? Are you Overclocking your CPU at all? If no, are you running the RAM at 1600 or more "Stock" 1333MHz instead?

running at ultra or max, rather than high shouldn't be causing any problems, though if you have various things forced on via the Video card display drivers, that potentially could cause some problems, but if its everything run at max via in game settings, it shouldn't be causing this sort of problem.

When I mention forcing settings on, I mean for example, like with Elder Scrolls Oblivion, I can run the game fully maxed out via in game settings, and then via the Nvidia control panel I can enabled and jack up additional settings like higher Anti Aliasing levels, Triple Buffering, disable Vsync and some other tweaks, and get the game to look a tad bit better, and still have more than enough frame rate to spare (with just in game settings to max, the game runs at like 100-150fps at 1920x1080, with the additional settings it still runs at 80+ fps easily in outdoors, even higher with indoor environments)

You haven't told us yet whether this effects only WoW or is a problem with all games.

If it's the former, there may be a solution. If the latter, sounds like it would be time to execute on your warranty.
    Good job, friend-of-friends!
