Graphic card for C2D processor

My config :-

ASUS P5G41T-M LX Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 @ 2.00GHz
Corsair DDR3 4 GB RAM
Antec VP450P power supply
Seagate Barracuda 1 TB HDD Internal
Hitachi 160gb internal

My Budget around 4000 INR.,(75 USD)
Please suggest me a graphics card to play games like Assassins creed 3 & running CAD/CAM soft wares Like CATIA, PRO-E, ANSYS,

while suggesting please consider the fact that my processor is of previous generation, Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 @ 2.00GHz

Geforce GT 430, GT 440 or GT 630 (They're all the same GPU anyways, the 440 is a faster clocked version of the 430, and is available in GDDR3 and GDDR5 RAM models, and the GT 630 is just a Rebadging of the GT 440).

Any of these should be in that price range, or at least one of them should be.

no idea how well it will run AC3, but for the CAD/CAM Stuff its OpenGL performance should be decent.

Also in this price range would be a Radeon HD 6570, maybe even the 6670 if caught on sale somewhere, the latter of which would be the most powerful of all the cards for Gaming, and OpenGL usage in the CAD/CAM stuff should be adequate as well, though ultimately it comes down to the drivers, and Firmware on the card, for the cards for that and how well it copes with the software.

How much effect does the processor speed has on the graphics card performance, as i quoted earlier my Processor is C2D 2.00 ghz.

Also some one suggested, going for GDDR5 version OF HD RADEON 5670 or 6670 rather than DDR3 .

Is there a considerable difference between the performance of the 2 versions.

there's not a huge difference in performance between GDDR3 and GDDR5 cards, its only a small performance increase, but GDDR5 cards cost more than the others, and if you can get a decent deal on them, its worth the extra small performance bump.


As to the CPU, yes, CPU performance can affect GPU performance, but your CPU you have now shouldn't be any hindrance on these GPU's since their not that high end.

the Core 2 Duo running at 2GHz shouldn't be much of a problem on these cards. the 5670 and 6670 might be a small bottleneck issue, but not a huge problem. the 6670 would have more bottleneck than the 5670 since it is faster, but not by a huge amount.

Radeon HD 6570 is a GDDR3 equipped slower clocked 6670, just so you know, which is why I listed it, since its normally in that price range.

5670 would be a bit faster than the 6570, but a bit slower than the 6670. Most 6670's I see usually go for closer to $80-85 or so.

the GDDR3 models are more cheaper in price though, but even with the GDDR3 memory, the GPU core of a 6670 is still faster than the others listed.

Please pardon me if i'm repeating my question, but out of the three, HD readon 5670, 6570, GT 440, Which one will you pick for me .

I'm not picking any for you, thats your decision, I'm just stating what is what.

As has been said already, the 6570 is about as fast as the GT 440, if not maybe a tad better, the 5670 is faster, and then 6670.

Its up to you to decide which to get, check around to see what is available in your budget range.

starting with the top end cards in your list, and then work your way down the list if they are out of budget until you find one that does fit the budget.

Top to bottom, 6670, 5670, 6570, GT 630, GT 440, GT 430.

Doesn't matter, which ever is cheaper. They're both the same card and specs.
