    New graphics card

Hi, Just bought a new graphics card:

    AMD RADEON HD 6870 OEM - 1 GB GDDR5 - PCI-EXPRESS 2.1 | eBay

but when it arrived, it was actually this sapphire version:

    Sapphire 11179-09-20G HD 6870 1GB GDDR5 Graphics Card: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

Apart from the ports being different, does anyone know if this card is better or worse?

    Thanks.

There is no difference at all between the two cards. The one listed on eBay is just the generic specs from AMD. The saphire card is built on the same exact platform only with a slight better cooling design and possibly, as you mention, the ports configured differently.

Otherwise if you compare the specs on the two cards you'll see they are exactly the same card!

Sapphire is a good brand, but just about any brand is dependable today. We all have our favorites.

My main card at the moment is Sapphire.

I wouldn't worry about it not being AMD, as AMD doesn't make consumer card anymore.
I guess some reference card show up from time to time, but they basically just make the chips, and some professional cards.

    Thanks for the replies

That does make sense, I didn't realise that they sometimes configured the ports differently though.

The newer cards, have VGA, DVI, HDMI, Display Port ,and Mini Display Port.

Some only have 1 DVI, and no VGA, and even some have neither, just HDMI.

If you haven't bought a card in a while, this is fairly new, as just a few years ago, all you would find is VGA, and DVI.

Yeh, it's been a few years since I bought one, and that card had 2xDVI 1xVGA 1xHDMI, but I was confused about the original card on ebay showing different ports, not that I particularly need the mini display ports and I have an adapter for display port to DVI, so it's probably for the better anyway

    Thanks for your help!
