I have Thinkcentrre A51 8122 KQG that I would like to upgrade Graphics but I'm having some trouble figuring out if powersupply will support a video card. I know it's got a PCI-E slot in it, and the power supply output is 310 watts.

    Intel P-IV 3.06 GHz with EM64T
    533 MHz FSB / 1 MB L2 Cache
Intel 915GV Chipset with Intel GMA 900
    128 MB Shared Graphics VRAM
    2.25GB DDR2 RAM @ 533 MHz
    80 GB 7200 RPM HDD
    DVD-RW Drive
    20" HP LCD Monitor
    IBM MM Speakers
    Optical Scroll Mouse
    56K Internal Modem

which graphics card will be suitable for my motherboard???? i have listed below........

Sparkle NVIDIA GeForce 210 1 GB DDR3 Graphics Card
Sparkle NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS 1 GB DDR3 Graphics Card

    Welcome to TechIMO!
They are all suitable, but the lowest of the low.
All those card should run on a true 310 watt. What are th 12volt amps.

The 8500 is the slowest, but the other 2 are only slightly better.
The 3 are only slightly better than your onboard.

What is your budget, and where will you buy this stuff>
A waste of an upgrade, if you ask me.

Compatibility is not an issue, and I can't answer you power supply question, until you answer my question, on 12v amps.

The only version that has a problem with newer cards, is 1.0, and that is not the majority of 1.0 cards.

It has a +12V rail, look at the label on the PSU, very simple to do.

If your PSU is 7 years old I wouldn't even think about running that PSU anyways, PSU Efficiency, especially on low power low end units can degrade over time, and 7 years old is very old.

so even if the PSU could handle the cards based solely on Specs, it would be playing with fire, literally if you ran one, very good chance it could burn out the PSU, and possibly damage the entire PC.

You'd be better off just saving up and getting a newer PC, something like an AMD Llanos Based System (AMD Fusion APU's), with Integrated "Discreet" Graphics on the AMD CPU, which are actually better graphics chips than any of the cards you listed.

I have checked my motherboard specification it shows PCI-E v1.0a compliant slot, will the newer 2.0 and 2.1 cards work in this slot? or I should put only PCI-E v1.0a compatible graphics card??

No way of me knowing which 1.0 board slot won't work, with a newer card.
    I wouldn't chance it.

Why can't you give us the label info off the power supply?

We are glade to help, but you have to make a little effort.
