Can my computer run a GTX 560?
I have a HP Pavilion Elite M9660F with a Nvidia 9800 gt, I was wondering if my computer can run a GTX 560?

Your PSU is only 460 Watts and the GTX 560 is rated for 550 watts duel PCI-e 12 volt connections. You will need to upgrade the PSU. Plus, your computer may be a bottleneck. I know mine is and I have a GTX 560 TI with a Q6600 Proc.

Wait, but at the Nvidia website, it says it only needs 450 watts?

The 550 watts is what I read on Tom's hardware forum. Maybe they were smoking crack when they said it required 550 watts.

Shyguy will be sure to post in here and set this straight.

550W, 450W, depends on the Brand and model of PSU, along with the rest of your Systems specs.
Its entirely possible to run the GTX 560 of a "lowly" Antec Earthwatts 380W unit, or Neo Eco 400W unit.
Even some of FSP and Coolermasters cheaper 400W units can run it (these are 400W, but their +12V Rails are lower than the Antec mentioned above).
GTX 560 only pulls about 160W or so of power, so with the rest of the system specs, and depending on the brand of PSU, you might even be able to get away with 350W.
If this is your PC: Newegg.com - HP Pavilion Elite M9660F(NP102AA#ABA) Desktop PC Phenom II X4 940(3.0GHz) 8GB DDR2 750GB HDD Capacity NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
You could very well get away with your 460W PSU, but depends on the brand of unit.
You'll have to open your PC and take a look, find a label on the Power Supply, and find a Brand of PSU, I have seen some HP's with FSP or Fortron Source brand units, these are decent, but you'll also have to look and find out what the Amp rating is for the +12V Rail (or multiple +12V Rails if more than one, and even then, sometimes it will list a Combined +12V Rail Wattage rating).
Otherwise, if its just about any other brand of unit in that HP system, other than FSP/Fortron, you'll most likely want to replace it.
But for $40 or so, that shouldn't be a problem.
CPU wise, if thats your system, you'll have no problems with running the GTX 560, it won't bottleneck the card.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green
