Upgrading My graphics card and need some help.

I was looking to upgrade my card to a Evga geforce gtx 550 ti, but I needed to know what type of of fps this thing would give me if I where to run say Crysis 2 or Battlefield 3 on high to very high settings on a 1680 x 1050 display. I'm running an i7 with 16gb of ram if this helps. And thanks in advance.

I've asked the guys to have a look, but you might need to wait for them to wake back up again......

Thanks for the quick reply. I was also wondering what would be the difference in fps on the same games with and the same settings mentioned above with the Evga geforce gtx 560 ti compared to the Gtx 550 ti.

    As above, Welcome to TechIMO!

I actually used to own a gtx550ti, it's a good card at it's current price point. However, it unfortunately will not be able to play Crysis 2 or Battlefield smoothly on high/highest settings, even at 1680. The I7 is a great cpu, and you've got plenty of ram so you are fine in that respect.

The 560ti is quite a bit better than 550ti and will be able to play the game on higher settings at your resolution (though not maxed out.

How much do you have to spend (and what ccountry are you based out of)? Also, what is the make and model of your power supply?

On top of that, what video card do you currently have?
    Main PC: AMD FX-8350 / 16gb DDR3 1600 / AMD 7970GE 1200mhz Core & 1600mhz Mem / Win7 Pro 64bit
    File Server: AMD Opteron 180 / 3gb DDR400 / Nvidia 6200 / WinXP Home 32bit / Lubuntu 12.10
    Laptop: HP-Compaq nc8430/ Intel CoreDuo T2400 / 2gb DDR2 667/ Ati x1600 / WinXP Pro 32bit

Thanks for the help I do in fact live in Canada and the card I am running now is the card that came with my computer which is the Geforce Gt 630. It is not able to run most new games at a decent frame rate even on the lowest settings. I'm looking to spend at most 350$ so it looks like ill be going with the 2gb version of the gtx 560ti. Not sure of the make or model of the power supply. It came with the computer, all I know about it is that its 300 watts. I know I need to upgrade this to at least 500 watts if I want to run the 560ti, so most likely I will end up with something between a 600 to 700 watt power supply. What do you guys think?

A quality 500w-600w is plenty for that system, and yes, a 560ti is a nice card.

However, just to clarify is that 350 usd, or? If it is 350 usd, you can actually get a bit better card and a good power supply to complement your i7.

If you can wait a few more weeks, I'd wait for the release if the gtx 660 series cards for the price range.
Other wise the Radeon hd 7870 would be a better deal for the price range.

With the specs released so far, it should be closer to a 580, if not slightly ahead of it at times.

well if its to compete with the Radeon HD 7870 in price range, it better damn well, as that card by itself already beats the 560 ti and rivals the 570. So the 660 better, or should beat any of those, and come close to the 580 if not best it as well, as Solo mentioned.

Otherwise, Nvidia has another blunder to add to its line up, sort of like AMD's current FX series CPU's, hopefully fixed with the Piledriver CPU's coming out in the next couple months.
