    Do you realize that the VGA interface has been pretty much superseded by other interfaces since the 1990s? Does your instructor really want to know how people buy and use obsolete and outdated technology?

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~
    Marketing Survey:
    VGA Cards and Their Relation to the Consumer
    1. What is your age?
    Between 30-40
    2. What is your gender?
    Male
    3. Do you know what a VGA card does in a computer?
    YES NO
    4. Do your interests or occupations require a computer with a video card?
    YES NO
    5. Do you own a video card?
    YES (Well over a Dozen spanning more than 15 years) NO
    ***(If you answered ‘NO’, please skip to question 14)***
    6. Do you see yourself upgrading it within the next 12 months?
    YES NO
    7. When did you purchase it? (eg. With your computer, seperately, etc.)
    A year Ago
    8. Why did you purchase it? (eg. Gaming, video streaming, home, work, etc.)
    Gaming, Video Streaming, Video Transcoding, 3D Rendering/Animation, Needed a Card with similar or better performance that ran cooler and quieter than previous one.
    9. Where did you purchase it from? (eg. Overseas, PC Hardware Store, etc.)
    Directly from EVGA.com as a Recertified (Refurbished) Item to save costs off of a new one, other wise I usually buy from Sites like Newegg.com, Directron.com, Geeks.com, etc
    10. Why did you purchase it from there? (cheaper, closer to home, etc.)
    Cheaper, as said above
    11. Did you need it or want it?
    NEED WANT
    Both
    12. Why did you need/ want it?
    Already covered under Question #8
    13. Did advertisements influence your decision?
    Word of Mouth Online Advert Magazine Advert
    TV Advert None Other (specify)
    No "Advertising" did not, I almost always now days go by Online Reviews of Products or Word Of Mouth from fellow gamers or online forums like this one (TechIMO.com)
    14. How much money would you spend on a video card today?
    If I had the money right now, most I would be willing to shell out is around $350, but would rather only spend closer to $200-300. Currently looking to pick up a 2nd card like I already have for around $150 range, to run in SLI mode (Nvidia cards).
    15. Are you partial to brand names? (eg. NVIDIA, AMD, etc.)
    YES NO
    THE PRODUCT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE NAME
    I'm not partial per say, but I do tend to buy Nvidia GPU based cards more often, though I do buy AMD/ATI cards from time to time. Thing to remember is that Other than OEM hardware, neither AMD or Nvidia Make cards for average retail market, PNY makes most of "Nvidia's" Cards, such as their Quadro Series. AMD has some Retail OEM or Reference cards that do end up on the market, but most Brands as you stated are 3rd Party Brands like Asus, EVGA, MSI, Gigabyte, Powercolor, Visiontek, Sapphire, HIS, and many more that actually make the cards sold on the market. And even then, many of these companies that sell their cards, its other companies like Foxconn and Zotac and others that actually make the boards used by these other companies that mate "their" cards and the desired Nvidia or AMD GPU to create the card sold on the market.
    16. If you were to buy a video card this week, where would you purchase it from?
    Newegg.com, Directron.com, Geeks.com, Microcenter.com, or a host of other online retailers. Lately I have been scoping out the Buy/Sell Sections of Forums like Overclock.net for used cards for cheap.
    17. Would you research your choices before deciding? How?
    ALWAYS. Simple Google search for the cards your looking for, for Review and Benchmark results.
    18. Would you prefer to buy it locally or from overseas? Why?
    LOCALLY OVERSEAS DOESN’T MATTER
    If by Locally, you mean from an Online Retailer in my Country of Origin, then yes, if locally as in physically locally, no, as we don't have any good stores or places "locally" to buy from other than Best Buy, which is a major rip off in prices.
    19. How does ‘Australian Made’ affect your decision on general purchasing?
    Does not Apply.
    2. What is your gender?
    Male though my designer tells me I'm an artificial intelligence agent... but what does he know?
    3. Do you know what a VGA card does in a computer?
    YES* NO
    4. Do your interests or occupations require a computer with a video card?
    YES* NO
    5. Do you own a video card?
    YES* NO
    ***(If you answered ‘NO’, please skip to question 14)***
    YES NO*
    Probably going to be buying a new PC. Recently upgraded graphics card with Shyguy's help.
    7. When did you purchase it? (eg. With your computer, seperately, etc.)
    Separately. By the way, your spelling is really atrocious.
    8. Why did you purchase it? (eg. Gaming, video streaming, home, work, etc.)
    Gaming, video streaming, home use mainly though I tinker with PCs to gain experience which can help on the job.
    9. Where did you purchase it from? (eg. Overseas, PC Hardware Store, etc.)
    I purchased it from Newegg.com -- you SHOULD probably ask what make, model, brand, etc. it is. But I'm not your instructor, you dig? It's your show.
    10. Why did you purchase it from there? (cheaper, closer to home, etc.)
    The distribution center is nearby and my friend ShyguyXPC, as well as other forum members, recommended it.
    11. Did you need it or want it?
    NEED* WANT*
    Both.
    12. Why did you need/ want it?
    I really wanted to use this old piece of junk PC to play games. For the most part they [games] work fine now. Some games that are not designed well for an AMD GPU (trust me on that). I find that it really depends on the game more so than the specs. But again... the system *is* old.
    13. Did advertisements influence your decision?
    *Word of Mouth Online* Advert Magazine Advert
    14. How much money would you spend on a video card today?
    I'm not presently in the market for another graphics card but should I be in the future I'd spend between $100-300. Depending on if I'm in a playful mood.
    15. Are you partial to brand names? (eg. NVIDIA, AMD, etc.)
    NO *
    It really depends on what system I'm running it on and what works well given the price range and as well as the limitations of that system. My card now is an AMD and I'm very happy with it but I've also heard many positive things about the mid-to-upper range NVIDIAs. My understanding is that you should always look to purchase such mid-to-upper range graphics cards if you're looking to use the system for any form of gaming. There are crappy NVIDIAs and crappy AMD-based cards. In the end the chipset doesn't matter to me as does the specs, compatibility and price.
    Presently using an XFX HD 6670 1G DDR5 with a nice HDMI setup (first time owning a card with a card with an AMD GPU).
    THE PRODUCT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE NAME
    Agreed.
    16. If you were to buy a video card this week, where would you purchase it from?
    Pointless to answer the question since I'm not nor would I be. Probably Newegg.
    17. Would you research your choices before deciding? How?
    Positively, using Google, Tom's Hardware, TechIMO and a few other nifty forums.
    18. Would you prefer to buy it locally or from overseas? Why?
    LOCALLY* OVERSEAS DOESN’T MATTER
    Overseas may be too rich for my blood.
    19. How does ‘Australian Made’ affect your decision on general purchasing?
    It doesn't. Are there any good Australian made graphics cards out there? If I can get the thing from Thailand for half the price and inspect the hardware to ensure it works fine, I'd do that. I could careless where a product comes from or where it's made. I answered #18 "locally" because overseas shipping charges may be too expensive to consider. Although I'm not an expert at graphics cards *I* usually do care about how well the card is constructed and will typically evaluate that independent of where the card is actually made.
    ***THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME***
    No, thank you. But I'd really like my gold-pressed latinum now.
