7950 display problem
Sometimes my computer does not recognise my GPU and requires up to several restarts till it shows.
I have used several HDMI cables and monitors with the same problem.
If I connect straight to the mobo then it works but then I can't find the graphics card in my devices.
But then a few restarts later it will be detected and I can run BF3 perfect for a few hours until I turn it off.
Any help would be appreciated.
System Specs
Intel I5 3750k OC 4.0 Ghz
Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H Mobo
Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600MHz
PowerCool 850w PSU
PowerColor Radeon HD 7950 3GB

I would begin by replacing the power supply, that is either the main culprit or will end up being a problem for you later.
Random issues like this are very likely power related.
Thats not saying that it CANT be the card itself, or that the power supply has already done damage to it.
But until you replace it with a reliable one, your fishing in the dark.

Is there any way I confirm this is the problem before I buy a new one?

The point is you only actually need a 400W PSU to run your PC as is....
but it has to be a good brand and have enough +12v amperage.
A bad PSU will cause random issues and make any diagnostics nearly impossible.
I'm willing to bet its the root cuase in the first place...
AAnd the worst part of a dodgy PSU is when it DOES blow it takes out all your expensive hardware with it...
Good models use power protection hardware to minimize or eliminate "blowback" to the rest of the components

Okay im looking at the Corsair CX600 and the Coolermaster GX RS650.
Are these of good enough quality or could you kindly recommend me one?

I'd go with the Corsair, but either would be fine

Test the Card in someone elses computer. If it detects 10/10 times, then you know its not the card. And would then come down to the PSU, or possibly motherboard Pci express slot. I doubt that though and would limit by guess on the PSU.

Okay i ordered the Corsair Enthusiast Series TX650 V2. Meanwhile i have tried an old GFX card and it worked fine so the slot isn't the problem.
Ill report back my results with the Corsair when i get it, many thanks for your help.

I found this thread from a guy who has the exact same problem, his English isn't great but it seems the PSU was the cause of the problem, hopefully mine is and not the GPU!
