Need help on what monitor cable I need

So my monitor has a VGA plugin and a DVI-D one.

The graphics card I'm getting has a DVI and HDMI.

My question is basically can I plug in VGA to DVI or do I need to do DVI-D to DVI (a link to what I need would be nice if it isn't to much to ask for).

I've looked everywhere and I'm not sure if anything I found is what I need. It's hard to find what I'm looking for when I'm not sure what I need.

why would you think you could plug VGA into DVI when their both completely different physical connections? Simple, and I do mean a very SIMPLE google search would reveal that, heck just plain observations in person would tell you that.

There are DVI to VGA adapters, but if your monitor has a DVI-D connector, just use the DVI-I connector on the video card, problem solved.

DVI-D is a Digital ONLY Signal, DVI-A is Analog Only, and DVI-I Is capable of either/or.

No I just meant VGA to DVI (like one side of the cable is VGA and the other side is DVI) not plugging in the VGA side into the DVI.

I know that the plugins have different physical connections.
I wasn't asking if the VGA part of the cord would fit in the DVI plugin.

Also I only have a VGA to VGA monitor cable but will I still have an issue? Or will the adapter it comes with solve the problem.

If you want the best possible picture you'll want to get a DVI cable. If you just want to make due the card comes with a DVI-VGA adapter. So you could use your VGA cable and connect up your monitor that way and then there would be no need to buy anything extra. If it were me I'd spend the extra couple dollars and get a new cable, they are nice to have on hand for down the road anyways.
