I'd rather mow north dakota with nail clippers
Generally when DX is first released its loaded with bugs and you can't really uninstall it cleanly w/o resulting problems afterwards.

imac: DX9 has improved pixel and vertex shader support, resulting in the possibilyity of much more graphically intense programs that can run faster than without the support. |

... and more importantly, it provides a managed interface which allows .NET applications to use DirectX. The combination of C# and Direct3D is very cool indeed. |

I upgraded, but I wouldn't say "it rocks" I notice no difference, I don't think they fixed/messed up anything that's supported yet. |

Upgraded, noticed er.. no difference before or after, which I guess is actually a GOOD thing =) Everything worked as it did before, and nothing stopped working after.
More detail on the apps I use to that effect.
Adobe Photoshop 7.01, AfterEffects 5.5, Premiere 6.5, Illustrator 10
Macromedia Dreamweaver MX, Director MX, Flash MX, Fireworks MX
Newtek Lightwave 7.0, 7.5
Discreet 3D Studio Max 4.2, 5
Nothing Real Shake 2.43, 2.5
MS Asheron's Call 2
And all the standard IE, Outlook Express, Trillian etc..
