hercules/visiontek graphics card advice Hi all! I'm going to start building my first computer soon and am wondering about the Hercules 3D ProphetIII Ti500 card. What do you all think about it? Will it be a great card? I have read reviews, but would like opinions and advice, too. I'm debating between the Hercules and Visiontek Xtasy Ti500. I want to get a good card now so that I can wait a while to upgrade. Any advice? :) Thanks in advance! ng ;) |
Better take a look at this one, it is a Ti200 SE with 3.6ns ram. 3.6ns Man, ya can clock that baby far beyond Ti500 speed, and it is not all that expensive if I'm correct. http://www.reactorcritical.com/index.shtml#l971 Ultima |
I like the design of Hercules Ti500. I prefer Leadtek or Gainward "Golden Sample". Suma Ti200 SE is nice, but still will have problems going beyond Ti500 frequencies (the GPU is still clocked @175MHz - Ti200), even with that fancy 3.6ns memory, yet, the card should be priced well. Best Regards ... |
True it's still stock clocked at 175 but they still seem to reach atleast 200 and 220 seems pretty common, and don't forget that GF's are significantly bandwidth limited and getting upto 600mhz on the memory will make it quite a significant performer.... |
I would say buy the cheapest vid card you can for now because in two months the GF4 will be coming out and prices will drop on all. What you pay for a GF3 TI500 now could buy you a GF4 then. |
