Geforce 440mx running slow than my TNT2

    Hiya

Have this MSI 440mx SE 64mb DDR

Installed ok but it says, according to card diagnostics, its running in in PCI mode. I think card is 4x agp? My mother board is 2x I think, could that cause a problem? I'd have thought it'd be retro comaptible tho.....

It's running slower than the old TNT2 I had in there before....

I've installed the proper drivers for it and I've also updated the drivers again online. Still the same.

I removed the old drivers before I install the new ones?

    Any ideaS?

What motherboard do you have? Did you install the latest motherboard chipset drivers?

if your motherboard has an ALI chipset, you'll definitely need to install the AGP drivers for it. Otherwise the card WILL run in PCI mode in Windows. Had this problem on my old Matrox G400 card.
    My R&D machine:

    AMD 2100+ @ 2700+
    Asus A7N8X-E
    1GB Kingston PC333
    2xWD 74GB Raptor's in SATA RAID
ATI 9700Pro w/ Zalman Heat Pipe

I agree with EMC2, I had a 4x card in a 2x slot, and it ran really slow. But update your motherboard chipset and AGP drivers, then be sure to have the most updated Nvidia drivers. Should do the trick. Most people overlook the difference new chipset drivers can make. I put my money there...

You may need to use something like detonater destroyer to completely remove the old vid card drivers, too.

Run det destroyer (I swear by it-hehe not at it). then update mobo chipset drivers. If its ALI or Via both will do what you are having problems with. Intel is better about it and so is SiS in most cases. (MAN I hate Via). Then run newest video card drivers AFTER the updated chipset drivers not before. This should make it work as expected.
