| Is there much noticeable difference....?
Is there much noticeable difference between a 4x and an 8x AGP gfx card??
A friend of mine is considering buying a 128mb Radeon which looks like a good deal, with a price under £60 (but it states that it only supports 2x and 4x AGP)
A similar spec GeForce4 (but with 8x AGP) would cost around £90
He has an MSI KT4VL mobo (which supports 8x), but wants to know if there will be a noticeable difference during use, or if the only noticeable difference will be during a benchmark test??
I don't know much about gfx cards, so hope someone can give some advice?? |

One word: No.
I don't think there would be noticeable difference in bench either...

Nothing yet, somewhere in the distant future it will be useful, not just yet.

---deleted a remark-----
New technologies are always pushed, even though they wouldn't make much difference. If they don't breakthrough, some different tech. will be implemented.
8x agp is future, and I don't think it costs much more to put that port in a mb so why not do it?
It's really the graphics card manuf. that could push the tech (by providing only 8x cards) but they choose not to.

N/M
Yeah, OUT to SELL them. Understandable, and I knew that... what I meant is there marketing and long descriptions about 8X AGP, etc. If there is NO difference then why even waste the time?
Geeze............................................. |
