of first off there's no need to double post it makes things confussing to everyone trying to help. Second welcome to techimo.
to get the bios update you'll need to d/l it from the biostar website. but I'm not sure that's what your problem is. I think you might just need to update your vid card drivers but I'm curious as to why it won't go to safe mode? are you not pushing it soon enough?

Can you get into the BIOS by pressing DEL or something as it boots?
It might be the BIOS setting for the vid card is wrong (is it a x4v or x8 AGP card?).
Anyhow, the latest BIOS for that board is here. Follw the manual instructions to flash it, if you need to.
I'd check BIOS settings first, though.

I agree with Mick, Check BOIS first before doing any bois updates.
Here is a link for troubleshooting Stop Errors with XP Pro.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p...eshoot.asp#TSE
go down the page about 1/3 and you will see where it starts for troubleshooting stop errors. Without the actual stop error number it could be a few different things other than you vid card.

Also in the BIOS make sure Fastwrites are not enabled, Thi (if set to enabled) can cause some great instability.

Um, thought about this. Are you trying to use a new mobo with an old install of windoze?
If so, don't.
It'd be best to reinstall windoze for it to work nice.
Cheers
