HELP!!! Geforce FX 5200 in pci mode
Hi everybody,
What a stupid problem, but unfortunately I cannot solve it up to now.
So I have Gigabyte 8IP1000, Intel865PE chipset, AGP x8 slot, etc. Updated BIOS to F6 ver.
Nvidia Geforce FX 5200, 128, agp x8.
This card seems to run in PCI mode.
The AGP texture acceleration is N/A...Runs bad in 3D...
I tried to do it by myself, installed DX9.0a, latest drivers, but no result...
Hope U know how to solve this problem and THANX a lot. |

Do you have more specs? What OS are you running? Is the card PCI or AGP? When you say that it runs in PCI mode, do you mean that it runs in VGA mode? If not, I am not sure what you mean.
I know that when I have had trouble installing a graphics card, it is usually because I forgot to COMPLETELY uninstall the old driver for the old card. Graphics cards can be really crabby.
There is no stupid problem. I spent 2 weeks trying to figure out why I had bars scrolling down my screen. I spent hours on tech support, reinstalled my graphics card, switched monitors, switched computers and God knows what else only to pick up the phone and realize it was interference from my cordless phone. Yeah, I felt pretty dumb.

I too have had new video cards throw a tantrum because I didnt uninstall the previous one. I would look towards that.
We have all done "stupid" things, sometimes it just takes someone or something turning your head towards the right thing to see it.

You may need to install AGP drivers.

Hi everybody!
After 3 days fighting with this problem...think I did it!
There is no option in the BIOS to set the AGP as a primary.
First I installed the DX 9.0a, but I did it so:
Downloaded dx9.0a.exe, then extracted it in a folder.
In each cab there are .inf files, I installed each .inf file corresponding to my OS (WME).
Then I setup the DX, restart.
In C:\windows\inf there are files for the nvidia - I deleted all.
Then I downloaded the intel865pe driver AGAIN, to be sure its OK.
I removed the VGA drivers, restarted
Windows cannot recognize the card (deleted .inf files) and installes it like vga adapted.
Then I installed the latest (44.03) drivers and boom!
In the properties the card is 8x agp, in dxdiag the agp texture acceleration is enabled!
Thanx everybody again! SeeU |
