Definetly go with with the Saphire Radeon 9800, its the same board as the Saphire 9800 Pro, so overclocking is a dream and if you really want to go to extremes then flash it with a 9800 Pro bios and voila.
<------------ As far as drivers go.
If your not buying a Geforce FX 5900 Ultra then dont buy a FX card at all. |

I wouldnt put too much into HL2, if you want GL titles and raw speed with a slightly lower IQ, Nvida. If you want DX titles great FSAA speed and a high IQ, ATI.

Well if you want a cheap ATI card you can always get a 9600. Theirs one at newegg.com for $118, and it will more then likely outperform a $500 Geforce FX 5900 Ultra in Half-Life 2 LOL http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...=radeon%2C9600
I head good stuff about that $118 card, I'M considering getting it for my mom after I finish building my 2 systems. |

Doom3 is an openGL game, and using the ARB openGL extensions the FX cards still suck, only by using the nvidia extension is john carmack getting alright performance (the nvidia extensions used don't have as high a precision as the default ARB extensions).
I know myself, if i was to build a PC right now, ATI all the way... But who knows what the future will hold... I would like to see nvidia climb back on top... Competition is always good for the consumer... Lets wait and see what NV40 has in store for us...
Alittle off-topic... Why isn't TruForm being promoted as much as it was originally when it came out? Surely the newer radeon's must be better at it than its predecessors, yet i hardly ever see it mentioned anymore...
