That's off the mobo. There should be a UPC tag on the back of the case itself. Should have a "P/N" and/or a "S/N" |

Unfortunately, the pics on Gateway's site still don't show me if there's a jumper to disable onboard video. Do you have a shot of the entire mobo in your case? The "cpu.jpg" you posted is just part of an image.
You can e-mail the pics if they're too large to post at TIMO. I can throw 'em on my site for references.
Gateway doesn't have the best documentation either, I did see that you have a "Santorini" mobo, but of course, Intel has no recollection of this model.
Anyway, if you can send me a nice pic of entire mobo, I can look to see if onboard video is disableable. Nice wordage.

Crud, didn't see a jumper to disable onboard video. Unless there's one under the IDE cables or up above the CPU . . .
And you've tried plugging the card into the PCI slot closest to the RAM?
You said that you removed the modem, did you put the vid card back in the PCI slot the modem was in and reboot? It didn't see it again in 'Device Manager'?
At this point, about the only thing you can do, besides dusting , is think about upgrading. I wish I had my hands on that board or one like it to give it a thorough once over and to play around w/ it. But you've pretty much done everything imaginable to get it working. I'm sure it's not a bad machine, just not for gaming.
For those interested, I've got a full size image (510KB) of his board at . . .

Yeah. I will probably have to upgrade. Crud, it's a pretty decent machine. I just can't get enough juice out of it to play anything decent.
What I don't understand is why Gateway seems to think it should work and keeps handing me over to slaes to buy a new video card.
Lastly... any thought on brands worth upgrading to?
Thanks to all, especially EvilRick. Great forum for us newbies. |

Lemme look around, can probably find you something decent to put all the hardware you have now into it. |

I once had to just go into "Device Manager" and disable the integrated video adapter.
It was still installed but no drivers or resources were being used for the integrated video adapter.(red X)
Then after doing that I would shut down computer and incert the video card I desired to use.
Once I booted back up to winDOwS it would usually detect said new hardware, but I would just cancel out and let winDOwS load.
Thereafter I would incert the driver CD that came with my video card and aim WinDOwS to it.
This has only worked for me once so no guarantee. |

I'm heading out to fry's. Any chance that another card might work? I would love to keep my system and find a way to get this to work. |
