I doubt it very much. If the onboard video isn't disabled automatically when you install that card, another isn't going to make much difference.
Anyway, the cost of PCI video cards is outrageous, you can find a microATX mobo w/ AGP for < or = to the cost of a PCI vid card. It's just finding the mobo that is the pain. Most mATX's come w/ onboard video and I doubt if you wanna mess w/ that again.
I'd look for a mATX socket 370 w/ AGP slot. You should find one for < $75 and you can still use all the hardware you have now. Down the road you can upgrade to an AGP video card. |

It's best to backup your stuff and reinstall. It will save you hassle in the long run. |

Where is the best place to learn how to upgrade a motherboard? Should I take it to Gateway or do it myself? Any websites that will walk me through it?
Thanks for the advice. |

jeez looooooeeeeeeeeeeez
i have an im845gl mobo with integrated intel exteme grafix.....which does not support T&L..........all housed in a silver and black micro atx case. mobo has 3 pci slots, 0 agp slots.
i disabled tthe onboard grafix in the device manager.........then ............wearing rubber gloves......stuffed a ati radeon 9000 pci card in ...........installed and then updated the drivers..........DONE.
disable your oboard card and stuff the new one in...........you'll feel better for it .....honest!!

Doddsy:
Have you been reading the posts? I tried this every which way. I disabled the onboard card and could not get Windows to boot with the new card in.
It ain't happening.
If you have any suggestions that haven't been addressed I'd love to hear them. |
