Right now I have a Tbird 1.333GHz, 512MB PC133, and an original GF3 64mb card. I have been interested in getting back into fs2004 (last fs I had was fs5.1 for dos) but am afraid that my computer isn't up to snuff.
I saw that some of the radeons have gotten very cheap recently- such as the $150 256MB 9600pro mentioned here in a different thread. My question is if I were to get this card would I have enough horsepower to power fs2004 decently (i.e. moderately high graphics settings, and those cool dx9 effects I see)? Or would upgrading the graphics card not help much since my CPU is weak? Would I need to upgrade that too?
I'd be running the game in 1024x768, btw, and it would be cool to have 2x antialiasing on but it's not crucial.
What do you guys think? $150 seems reasonable for a 9600 pro, and I think I'd go for the 256MB version since flight sims can be really heavy on the video memory?
