| MOBILITY RADEON 7500 Problems
I have a IBM Thinkpad T40, it has a MOBILITY RADEON 7500 graphics card, when i install the drivers for the graphics card and reboot it goes to a blue screen, and an error msg says "c0000415, Unknown hard error on start up everytime?
at the moment my laptop is practically useless because of this
Does anyone know how to solve it? i have tried all the newest drivers available.
Cheers

Which Operating System are you using?
Try booting into safe mode and remove the drivers. Did you load the Catalyst 3.9? If so, after you remove the drivers, install 3.8 or earlier. I have seen a few people, including myself, have problems with the 3.9 drivers.
Hope this helps you. |

You need to find drivers for your mobility card on IMBs website. In general the only drivers that will probably work well with your laptop are the ones that your laptop manufacture put out. Hope that helps.

tried the ones from the IBM web site for the T40 thinkpad. they are the drivers i originally tried they give the error mentioned
I have just tried the Catalyst 3.9 and 3.8 ones and they both result in the same error

I brought it 2nd hand cheap, and none of the hardware was installed on it, got all the drivers for everything from the IBM site, graphics card is the only thing with problems
Is it possible to buy and install a new graphics card for a laptop? |

Since it is a laptop, you are stuck with that video card. The video chip is integrated into the motherboard. You say that you are using XP pro, did you install XP your self or did you buy it with XP? If you just got the laptop and there is no info on it, you may want to try reinstalling windows XP.
How was the video before you installed the graphic drivers? How many different drivers have you used? The Catalyst 3.9 drivers are no good IMO because i have seen alot of people having problems with them. |

Win XP was on it when i got it which as far as i can see was the original install, I was having problems installing the graphics card so i reinstalled win xp pro, but encountered the same problems.
The graphics before i install the drivers seem ok, but i cannot watch DVDs etc. I have used many drivers, i have downloaded various ATI Radeon 7500 drivers from different places, i started using the drivers from the IBM site that where supposed to be for the laptop but encounted the error mentioned, and the same has happened with the others i have tried.
Are there any other drivers i could use instead of the ATI Radeon ones? |
