Using an HDTV as an monitor

I was planning on getting a 32 inch high deffinition television and I was wondering if I could use it as a computer monitor? I know that a regular tevelision display is blurry, but I was wondering if a hdtv would work.
Thanks
Kyle

uh based upon what i know, even if the tv is HDTV, you would need a video card that supports like, HDTV output, the quality though, wont look too bad, of course on a monitor it will be a lot better, but you will need a large resolution (or something) for it

oh and you probably are only going to have an S-Video out, your best bet

If you are getting a HDTV, make sure its 1080i. Thats the best HDTV resolution, and should look pretty good hooked up to a comp. When shopping, look for a TV that has DVI or DB-15 connectors. S-video wont cut it. Of course, you will need a good 3D card that has whatever output your TV requires. Also remember that 1080i=1920x1080 resolution. Thats a lot of pixels to push, so make sure your card has the gumption to handle it.

I mostly would like something bigger than my 19" monitor to play my dvd's and games on. I have a standard 27 inch tv and it is just too blurry and the picture quality is not good compared to my monitor. What is the best bet for me?

Standard TV's only run at something like 640x480, not good at all. Your "best bet" depends mostly on the size of your wallet. The bigger the bucks, the more real estate you can have. Question: Where will you have the PC and TV set up at? If its the living room, any size set will do. If its at a desk, you'll need some sort of flat screen. You may want to ditch the idea of using a TV alltogather and get a big ol' LCD flat panel.

hmmm I have been wondering to, If I hooked my pc up to my 51" HDTV using "s" video into one of my component hookups, it wouldn't look as good as my 19" CRT monitor?

ATI Radeon 9600 pro 128 video card

I tried hooking up my pc...to my 51 " HDTV, used an "S" video cable from video card to one of the video "S" cable inputs, switched the tv over to that particular video input but got nothing but garbled image? How can I get the pc to hook to the tv?

9600 radeo pro 128
has 2 settings...monitor is #1 and then there is a sec. monitor, which I don't have hooked up?
want to try and see if it works before wife gets home..hehehe
