| Thank you Governor Schwarzenegger...
So, just because California college/university tuition rates are below national average, let's raise tuition again. Not a big disaster considering it's been happening for the past couple of years, but why take it out on the students?
Ha.. Not only will tuition for community colleges possibly be raised to $26 per unit, he plans on redirecting 8,000 "would-be" freshman from UC and CSU schools to two-year schools and waive their tuition. He also wants to jack up fees for UC's schools in law, business and medicine, because they will be able to afford to pay more because of possibly making more in the long run.
Davis was horrible, but that car tax he had going worked really well... SacBee Linkage

Well Mike, I thought it was the consenus of most college students these days that everyone needs to pay their fair share in society.
Oh, I get it ............................. unless it means them.
BTW, my son is in San Diego State so I know what you mean.

It is, but our Governor should have had a better plan to pull the state out of debt besides asking President Bush for money.
Besides, if I am going to get killed by paying rent, I shouldn't have to get killed paying tuition, as well.
Do you really think those propositions will help? (Not like it'll help the college students). |

Come now Mike, we all know tuition hikes are a part of being a student. The last time I was at NMU it was $7,700 a year, including room and board. Now it's $5,700 a semester. It's only been five years.
Don't worry, in the next 100 years the US will figure it out, raise normal income taxes to stupidendous levels, and health care and schooling will all become free! Doesn't that work well everywhere else? Hmmm... |

pay your fair share once for 4 years. Or bleed people every year of their adult life with car tax.
do the math. Suffer 4 years with a few hikes. or suffer you entire adult life with 2000 dollar personal property tax on your car. At least this is the people who are actively participating in the school paying for it rather than some old guy who could never afford to go to college having to school you through a car tax. |

You guys already have some of the cheapest public tuition in the nation, it can afford a hike.
You might actually have to pay *gasp* almost as much as the rest of the nation! For 4 whole years too! Good god, someone stop him!
Sorry, not getting any sympathy from this side of the fence.
We pay MORE than you, our tuition just got raised 8% AGAIN, AND the state took away 20% of our budget. You guys don't have it that bad.

I think it's pretty funny. You Calif people threw out Davis because he was raising your taxes or sell bonds. Now, you find out that the bills must be paid somehow. Arnold asked for the same bonds that Davis was refused. Now Arnold wants to raise fees and taxes. He's doing more or less what Davis would have done.

There was a forum recently of several former Calfornia governors. They all agreed (this includes Republicans Wilson and Deukmejian) that Davis was saddled with the most disfunctional legislature in memory. But who knows? Had he been a better politician or leader, maybe he could have whipped them into shape. |

Well, California has been in trouble for a while --- Replacing him with our current Governor may not have been the best idea.
Yes, yes, laugh it up MTAtech. I didn't vote for him, but, apparently, someone did. |
