Hello all.
In my town, there are signs all around saying Gas Strike, and the dates for the strike are May 14-16, May 21-23, and May 28-30. I just wanted to get the word out, and figured TIMO was a good way to do it.
What's a gas strike? It's when people(as many as possible) don't buy gas on the stated dates. No, it's not going out and picketing your local Gas Station, after all, usually they're not the ones setting prices so high.
Hope this helps,

Sounds like a good idea.. unless you just so happen to have to buy gas one of those days. |

| Attention gas companies... expect busy sales May 17-18, May 24-25 and May 31-June 1. Raise prices accordingly.
My point being that not buying gas for two days does not decrease demand. |

I see your point, and actually thought the same when I had read these signs.
However, I think it's not so much to decrease demand, as it is to say to the oil companies, "Look how your sales slumped on xxx dates." It's more of a way to tell the gas companies that we are not happy with the prices, and can stop buying gas, and look how the market was affected with just a few people(relatively) not buying gas.

I think that the people who will strike on those dates will be outweighed by the people who have to have fuel to keep thier buisness running.I mean farmers will buy the same amount of gas regardless of price, those machines, trucks, and tractors have to go no matter what.I think that when you average how much gas was bought it will no vary that much.
We haven't backed off buying gas because of price,we just complain more about it,but in the end we have to have it.So belly up to the bar, this is gonna hurt

Well, here's the reason people in my area are kind've agitated:
1 year ago, the gas price dipped to 0.709 cents a gallon, the average cost for the first half of last year was 1.029 a gallon. For the last two months, it's been above 1.609, and right now it's 1.809. One could call "price gouging" on this one...

it is getting damn close to $3.00 a gallon here. I wonder if they are doing this, trying to get up to $3.00 a gallon, so it could be left there. Everyone remembers the 70's, (the gas crisis also brought in the curse called honda & toyota! ) The companies wanted to get it to a dollar. everyone pissed and moaned, but accepted it. Now, I think upping it to $2.00 isn't enough. jack it to $3.00, and reap the benefits.
Here. I must be seen as a whining, suv driving, gas guzzling jerk. explain this then. do not start bashing suv's, or old cars. I am fedup of hypocrites who open their mouth about this. Toyota & Honduh also have suv's. Your piece of trash honduh and toyota is not exempt from this. Your "econo clunker" is more damaging to the enviroment, then a fully loaded 2004 Ford Excursion SUV. Your "econo clunker" probably has more plastic then 2 excursions put together. http://money.excite.com/jsp/qt/full....earch_text=CVX
Here we are, getting fu***d over, and look at that profit!
this is not taking care of the problem. This is so some worthless ceo can line his god damn pockets, at the expense of america.
