Devout Moslems already know when it is time to pray and in this day and age there are certainly other ways to call people for prayers that conforms to noise regulation and respects the wish of the general public not to hear loudspeakers 5 times a day

Gomer you didn't address the part of the comment that pertains to this topic, only the racist part of the comment..
Actually I wonder now that you quoted it, why don't they know when to pray?
Would you be in favor of a Christian church or a Synagogue doing the same thing as long as they are the "general public" ?
Don't you know about Hamtramck? Funny town, it's in Detroit, or surrounded by Detroit. 40 years ago if you couldn't speak Polish and moved to Hamtramck you'd learn. My friend learned to speak Polish there as a small child. The problem was her parents didn't speak it, it was from her playmates .

Surreal, you didn't read everything I wrote I guess
"Doesn't make it any more right though" not a scathing retort I know... but it should at least give you the impression I do not condone what is happening.
Thanks for the specs on hamtrak. I assumed it was one of the bergs in the east side of the state w/ a large muslim population. Maybe I was thinking of deerfield? I know any time a major media outlet (usatoday, cnn etc) wants quotes from arabs regarding the situation in the mideast, they often find them there.
Where didja get the info? I'd like to see if it was deerfield I was thinking of.

I searched google for Hamtramack and got the site, City data, I figured it was one of those real estate search sites to give the new mover census info etc.
Actually it used to be a small blue collar predominantly Polish area during the car factory heyday. It's on 75 at about 6 mile.
I figured you could put a little more enthusiasm into your disdain.
Deerfield? You mean Deerborn? That's the town where it's against the law to build a structure that's not brick.

Hey, why don't you blow it out of proportions? C'mon guys, it's not a gang thing. Draw your arguments wherever you want, but at least be logical about it.
Blaze, your argument is good. I didn't think about it. In high school I was allowed to wear shorts and baseball caps. We don't have a gang problem, or muslims. [shrug]

I wonder if we could draw a parallel from this to that woman in Florida who didn't want to have her face on her driver's license?

I completely think we can.
Many schools (being a teen attending high-school, hence knowing alot of current rules in many schools...) do not allow headwear. shorts, pants, whatever. shirts, whatever. headware ... no.
Chuckie... yes it does.
Whir... we dont have a gang problem, or muslims either, but the rule is still there. many occupations do not want you wearing hats, so that has been adopted throughout many shops and classes at both my old and current school.
Personally, IMHO, she needs to conform to the standerads in place. when I am at a conference with my club, I am in a suit, tie, dress shoes. No facial jewerly is allowed. well like my conference, the school has the same ideas. and she needs to conform to them, not the other way around.
If thats her religion / thing, w/e, keep it on your own time, so to speak.
Just as the florida women, she needs to become american. im sick of these people who dont want to learn the language, dont want to meet the regulars, and then on top of it want special laws and cases for them. (no, im not sterotyping, i know many immigrints that are perfect americans. they learned english, try to get better at it, and... are some of the best people i know. they dont throw a fit when someone says "no thats how its done here"... they are gratefull that america let them be here)
i know as an american my whole life, some of my views are biased. i hope you can see past that and see my overall point.
