HELP ME, My Addiction is CALLING again....
I am feeling the call again, to buy BLEEDING EDGE equipment so I can say I have the fastest, most expensive, best(est) computer on the block!! I cant seem to help myself!
I swore off buying bleeding edge computers many years ago but I am seriously tempted just to buy this Dell available now, but It wont be shipped for a month.
Please, can anyone remind me of the many reasons I shouldnt buy this computer!!??Last edited by no1_vern; June 26th, 2004 at 07:45 PM.

Simple
Its not necessary, and honestly it'd be pretty moronic as I'm assuming you already have a top of the line machine.
Bottom line
You're an idiot
that work ok? was trying to be blunt.. only thing that works in situations like this!Helicopters don't fly; they vibrate so much and make so much noise that the earth rejects them.

That's money that could go towards petroleum, paying off your mortgage, insurance for any number of things, and FOOD. Why waste it on a computer that will only want to upgrade in a few months from now, anyway?

Just think of all the gas and food $3,000 will buy.

And just remember, if you were to purchase that, it will just be obsolete in six months or so, anyway.

I will be able to stay home and play games on my BRAND, SPANKING, NEW, FASTER THAN HECK, computer INSTEAD of going out and eating fast food, I MAY EVEN lose weight!
Naw, I won't lose weight - I'll be staying still in my chair playing games - if ever HL2 will come out!!

Besides costing an arm and a leg..for top of the line stuff that will be obsolete in 30 days or less, you need to consider that it generally takes a computer that is 3 time as fast as one its being compared to to even see the difference ...benchmarking software will show improvements..but not the eye and feel of one.

Ah ! I had reason to be scared !
Truthfully, harken All Ye and beware of uncontroled $pending binges and "rationalizing" that it's "needed" , for some esoteric reason.
More seriously, a good rule to follow is borrow for appreciating assets only.
Same for hi-ticket "investments".
Computers are almost the quintessential depreciating "asset".
Go to one of those "MONEY-type sites , with Calculaters for how much $X$ will grow to at %X% interst in N years.
You'll be amazed.

Unplug your computer and take the parts to different locations. (monitor, box, speakers).
Now what to do?
Work in your yard if you own your home.
Go to bed at a normal time everynight.
Fix something that's been bugging you around the house.
Think of something you've been interested in and thought you might try later and try it now.. furniture finishing, painting, rent a dirt bike and hit the trails.
Don't own your home?
You need to, but if you don't control your spending you never will.
How about your car? Is it a good one or a clunker?

Start developing a plan to buy your own home.
